Saratoga’s modern homes do not all share one origin. The Eichler-built development and the nearby Peremont story should be described separately, even where architectural connections overlap. Begin with a documented neighborhood, then investigate the individual house.
The City of Saratoga’s historical evaluation for 19277 Shubert Drive identifies the development as Eichler Homes of Saratoga and discusses Shubert and DeHavilland drives. It documents a 1965 Claude Oakland gallery model at that address. The evaluation describes that property and its historical setting; it is not a condition report for neighboring homes or proof that every nearby house has the same plan.
Eichler Network’s reporting describes Peremont as a 1954–1955 development by Perego-Montgomery with designs by Anshen and Allen. Sharing architects with early Eichlers does not make these homes Eichler-built. Our guides retain that distinction instead of treating every modern house as part of one tract.
Read the entry, garden connection, room proportions and storage in person. Ask for original plans where available, permit history and a chronology of roof, glazing and system work. Qualified inspections should address the actual assemblies and alterations. A modern appearance or an attractive renovation does not establish builder attribution or condition.
Organize the evidence behind architectural claims, retained details and completed improvements. Explain additions and replacements clearly. A preparation plan should separate essential repairs from optional presentation and use current relevant closed sales rather than a universal scarcity premium.
Check current city requirements and any property-specific restrictions before changing rooflines, glazing, structure or the footprint. Architectural interest and formal historic status are different questions. Use qualified professionals to evaluate proposed work and keep dated records after completion.
